Sunday School Ministry

Matthew 19:14 “But Jesus said, let the children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these”. Every child needs a good Christian home. A place where they will get foundation on the word of God. A place where they can learn and practice good Christian values. A place where they can laugh, love, learn and grow into able bodies rooted in Christ. There is no better place to provide such an impact in a child as the house of God.

It is in the nature of any child to have the need to learn, so that they may be enlightened. It is therefore the aim of the Sunday School Ministry to meet this need in our children.

We aim to teach our children about the word of God with the end result that they will learn the right way they should go. Even when they are grown up they will follow the right path in life based on the firm foundation of the word of God. Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

The Sunday School Ministry caters for children in the church from ages 3 years to 13 years. The ministry is categorised into ages as follows:

  • 3-7 years located in the downstairs minor hall- headed by Mom Eileen with dedicated teachers; sis Thandeka, sis Sbongile, uncle Micheal, Mrs A. Bokgwatile, Mrs N. Ndabeni and Mrs N. Poto.
The class is more play based education since the age dictates. There is a specific time for the word of God and thereafter a snack time. The children even get a chance to memorize bible verses.
  • 8-13 years located in the upstairs room- headed by Elder Mcotheli with dedicated teachers; Mrs N. Mcotheli, Namhla, Cleo, Nokuthanda and Olwethu.
In this class we start off with praise and worship, game or icebreaker then the word of God in a form of a lesson where children can participate. After the lesson the teachers have introduced a short session of hand work/ creative time.
  • 14-16 years located upstairs- headed Elder Mcotheli. This group is referred as the Teens for Christ ministry.
This is a group of girls and boys who love the Lord and are eager to learn and give back to the church. They do this by helping in the 8-13 years class and volunteering in other activities.
